Back date....

Welcome Dinner for the international students...31st January 2006

It was at Herrgar'n, organised by the ESN for the new exchange students! Price 80 SEK..you will know why.

Menu of the Day:
Chantarelle Soup
Beer
Fillets of Beef
Red wine (as in one bottle for every 2 person :S)
Apple cake
Coffee
You must be wondering why I keep posting food here...now who the hell is interested in what I am eating? Okok i post pictures of people this time hahaha
See the outstanding tall guy there on the right...Bastien from France. He is 2 metres tall mind you. In the background, the happening Ah Pek from US....worked for more than 30 years and now he is on exchange hahaha unbelievable. Very enthusiastic fella, participates in alot of activities like skiing, partying haha

Random shot before the dinner commenced....group of Germans in the corner. More than 50% of the exchange students are from Germany. They simply love Sweden!

And the group of people singing in front...are the Swedish from the ESN Linkoping. The Swedish really love to sing. They had a song book for everyone, and a survival guide:

If you want the toastmaster to start a song you shout TEMPO! followed by the song number..

A gyckel is a show or performance showed during the dinner. It can be a song, sketch or anything funny. And if you like the perfomance and want more, shout OMSTART! and there they go again and again and again...hahaha

The Germans' turn to sing...look at the number of them!

On the left is guy from Italy, I forgot his name, the Shanghainese girl Wenqi who is doing intern at the hospital here, the blonde Austrian girl Claudia, and behind the one wearing specs, Nicolas from France. All watching in awe at the presentation! Group of Finnish Singing for us now...Did I say singing was their favourite activity?? They should come Singapore for Kbox...Bree from Liverpool, UK, also on intern at the hospital here as Cardiologist and yes, also born in the year of the dog! She's a Liverpool and wolves fan hahaha :) Ermmm and Marcin from Poland behind(I don't know how come he appeared behind :S)
This is GuGu from Italy, not Gu Gu but GUGU. He likes to eat ice cream, especially during winter HAHAHAHAHA Thank you ESN! *Applause*

:S

Chinese New Year celebration at Uppsala!

If you think Steam boat, Bak Kwa and Pineapple tarts can only be found in Singapore.....look at the following pictures and THINK AGAIN...

3 Steamboats or you call it RICE COOKER BOATS

Bak Kwa! (Oops the coin there...errr No we are not playing blackjack!)

Pineapple tarts and prawn roll!

Cheers!

8 Singaporeans, 1 Malaysian, 1 Swedish and 5 Honkies! HUAAAAAAAAAAAT AH! Gong Xi Fa Cai! This year's Chinese New Year was the first time I spent away from home! Missed alot of things...the food, the mood, the ang baos, the holidays...But luckily we had a make up celebration at JD's place at Uppsala! Thanks for the free accomodation and hospitality shown! (45 minutes from Stockholm, 4 hours from Linkoping by bus) Lots of food as you can see, including a fruit platter which I don't have the picture with me yet and of course lots of blackjack, in-between, poker and guitar-karaoke singing. Though tiring, it was really a fun and enjoyable evening. I had to wait until 3 am (10am SG time) before i went online to "BAI NIAN" via webcam!

Uppsala is the 3rd largest city in Sweden, with the Uppsala University as the oldest university ever! Skype came from this university... so we all should pay kudos to UU! And because its the 3rd largest, and Linkoping is maybe the 50th largest...we found everything different there! Bigger area, bigger shopping malls, bigger buses, this big that big everything big. The list can go on forever and I shall not lower my morale lower by doing more comparisons. (They even have a ski slope in the town DAMN IT! ) But still we always welcome you all to visit Linkoping! hahaha

Some shots from Uppsala before I end this post...

The apartment that they stay in....DAMN BLARDEE FAR from school and town

He is smiling so happily because I nudged him and he thought he was going down! hahaha

Anatomical Theatre....Ghostly figure behind....

Uppsala Church...So big that my camera cannot fit in!

Me and the Botanical Gardens...supposed to be more beautiful in summer....

Diao simi Diao! (At the top of Uppsala Castle)

Trying to be funny....that's a cannon for you information...

And to end it all....Me with a swedish chio bu!
